The Virtual Career Closet is now open!

Borrowing professional attire just got better! The Career Center wants every Pitt student to be able to dress for success and to be able to showcase their skills and experiences with a professional spin on their personal style. Learn how to rent professional attire here!


What is the Virtual Career Closet?
This Virtual Career Closet enables students to have access to styles and sizes that make them feel their best with customizable rental outfits. This partnership with MyCareerCloset powered by Hyde opens up style options to all students with the added benefit of getting support from a professional stylist who can help to select the best pieces for the occasion. This option gives students more designer brands to choose from and is inclusive for all backgrounds, sizes, and genders. A one-month rental of 6-7 items costs $60. Details below.

How does it work?
Click here. Click get started to begin, then enter size and contact information, schedule a stylist appointment if desired, confirm selections, and enter payment information. Boxes should be shipped to the Career Center, 200 William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260, where they can be picked up any weekday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

How do I Get Started?
Click “Get Started.” From there you can choose your Fit & Style, or you can schedule an appointment with a stylist.  If you choose a Fit & Style, you will be asked for your contact information (be sure to use your Pitt email), school year, and the occasion you are using your attire for. Next, you will be taken to a check out page where you will provide your personal information, sizing, and payment information. Even if you have a voucher, payment information will be required to put a $1 hold on your account until the clothing is returned.  After you click “Place Order” you will be directed to schedule an appointment with a stylist where you will finalize your outfit.

How do you schedule a stylist appointment?
There are 2 ways.  After you click get started you may select “speak to a stylist” to schedule a time.  Otherwise, provide all necessary information and complete the order form.  After you agree to the terms and click “Place Order,” you will be prompted to schedule an appointment.  We suggest all students schedule an appointment with a stylist to get their look just right!

How do I prepare for an appointment with a stylist?
Be prepared to talk about your personal style, how you like your clothes to fit, and what event (interview, fair, conference, etc.) you are dressing for. We also recommend students know their measurements prior to speaking with a stylist.

How can I provide the most accurate size information?

What if I need to contact my stylist after the Zoom call is over?
Easy.  Go back into the invite or calendar event, and you should see your stylist’s email there!  Just know that box are usually shipped the same day, so we do not suggest this be used for any last minute changes to your box.

What does it cost?
$60. This fee includes a stylist appointment as well as a box with up to 6 items that you get to keep for 30 days, shipping to the Career Center, and the return shipping label. Additional fees could apply if all items are not returned in a timely manner.

What if I need financial assistance?
You can either click “Request Support” above the blue “Get Started” button, or after clicking “Get Started” you can choose, “Yes, I want to apply for financial assistance.” From there you will be taken to a questionnaire to determine your eligibility for a voucher.

What is a voucher/code?
A limited number of $60 vouchers are available to students who are First Generation or Pell Eligible, according to university records. To request a $60 voucher, complete all of the questions requested on the site, and then an approval email will be sent to your @pitt.edu address with a single-use code within one business day. If you do receive a code, then you still need to enter credit cards payment information. VCC will place a $1 hold on your card, you will not be charged anything in excess of this if you return all items in a timely manner.

How long does it take for the box to arrive?
Once the order is placed, the box is shipped within 1-2 business days. Plan for up to 7 days for delivery to the Career Center, 200 William Pitt Union. We will update this timeframe once packages begin to arrive. Plan to order items at least 8 days prior to your event to be safe.

Where can I pick up my box?
For ease of delivery, please direct all packages to be mailed to the Career Center, 200 William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260. You will be notified when the package arrives and will be able to pick it up any weekday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

What if my professional event is not in Pittsburgh?
You can always send your package to wherever you are, just let your stylist know during your appointment! Otherwise, all packages are set to automatically come to the Career Center, 200 William Pitt Union.

Do I need to clean the items before I return them?
No! There is no dry-cleaning or laundry hassle with the Virtual Career Closet. Just send everything back within 30 days and the vendor takes care of the rest.

How do I return items?
Once you are ready to return items, simply locate the return label that arrived with your items and drop it off at any FedEx drop site or location.

What if I want to keep the items I received?
You will have the option to purchase the clothing at a discounted rate from the retail price.


Effective January 21, 2024, the Pitt Career Center is transitioning from an in person, appointment-based Career Closet to a Virtual Career Closet, in partnership with Hyde/My Career Closet. In-person Career Closet appointments are no longer available.
