Post a Job or Internship
We are here to support anyone with valuable experiential learning and career opportunities for Pitt students and new graduates. We can assist employers with drafting new position descriptions, developing a new internship program, enhancing an existing program, training for optimal use of Handshake, and marketing to our students.
Step 1. Understand your organization’s needs and resources available
Step 2. Select the best short-term position type for your opportunity
- Internship? Volunteer? Temporary Position? Contract Worker? Seasonal Job?
- IF considering unpaid opportunities, then be sure to understand the Department of Labor’s FLSA Test for Unpaid Interns.
Step 3. Write a Position Description
- For assistance with developing a position description, email employer@pitt.edu.
Step 4. Post the position
- To get started, set up an account on Handshake and request the University of Pittsburgh as one of your campuses to begin posting jobs. For more information on Handshake and step-by-step guidance on using its many features, click here.
- By using Handshake at the University of Pittsburgh, you agree to comply with the Career Center’s Employer Policies.
Step 5. Start recruiting
- Once your position is approved, Pitt students will be able to see it and to apply!
