Job Title: University Stores Buying/Marketing Intern
Time Commitment: At least 10 hours/week for the semester; at least half or more of these hours must be weekdays between 8:30am – 5pm; in person attendance will be required with some virtual/remote work
Department: Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services (BHAS)
Location: The University Store on Fifth, The Pitt Shop, and Maggie & Stella’s store locations; as well as Litchfield Tower C Admin Offices
Position Reports to: Melissa Herrera, Insignia Buyer
Position Purpose
The intern position will support the Insignia buying position and marketing/communications team efforts to assist with a range of projects, including supporting marketing, buying, and merchandising initiatives in the stores.
Primary Responsibilities/Tasks
• NYC Fashion week Experience/Social Media Campaign
- Develop social media content, schedule campaigns, analyze performance, social influencer expectations
- Align with buying staff for planning marketing materials including newsletter content and other marketing materials
- Participate in vendor sales meetings with Insignia Buyer
- Assist Insignia Buyer with inventory reporting analysis and buying trends to identify reorder needs and new opportunities
- Collaborate with Store Managers for execution of marketing/merchandising strategies in store
- Assist with preparations and planning for 2 store events: TBD
- Prepare a summary of experience presentation to be presented to store and licensing staff/Pitt Business staff, at end of program. (to be presented first week of Dec 2025)
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Professional License:
• Working toward Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain, Marketing; rising junior or senior preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
• Students with practical or educational experiences in business administration, management, and/or retail operations
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms to create and post content
• Ability to work independently
