Behavioral Health Certified Peer Support Specialist

Location: Salisbury Behavioral Health (part of RHA Health Services)
Pay Rate: $18/hour
Schedule: Multiple shifts and schedules available

Job Summary

Join our team as a Certified Peer Support Specialist, where you’ll provide highly individualized, strength-based support to individuals with mental health or substance use challenges. You’ll promote self-determination, recovery, and community integration, while offering valuable insight as someone with lived experience. As a peer support specialist, you’ll also serve as a role model and advocate, helping others regain control over their recovery journey and achieve their goals.

What You’ll Do

Deliver person-centered, recovery-focused services in the community

Encourage self-advocacy, coping skills, and independent living

Collaborate with the care team, offering unique perspectives to support treatment planning

Promote community involvement and natural supports

Assist with symptom reduction, skill development, and goal achievement

Serve as a positive example of ongoing recovery

Qualifications

Required: Certified Peer Support Specialist (must meet PA requirements)

Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; ability to present information effectively in groups

Basic math skills; ability to interpret charts, graphs, and simple data

Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift at least 15 lbs., pull 10 lbs., and perform physical tasks (squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, stoop)

Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands

Ability to perform CPR from floor level (includes bending, kneeling, lifting)

Vision: close, distance, peripheral

Ability to talk and hear

Work Environment

Community-based position

May occasionally be exposed to wet/humid conditions or cigarette smoke
