COMPANY NAME: Light Horse Therapeutics
Light Horse Therapeutics is a small molecule drug discovery company based in San Diego,
employing tools from chemical and computational biology, in conjunction with precision
genome editing methods to identify functional, ligandable sites on high value oncology
protein targets for therapeutic intervention.

JOB TITLE: Intern Drug Discovery – Chemoproteomics

RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to small molecule library screening using high-
throughput chemoproteomic methods. Learn and execute the laboratory protocols for the

treatment of cancer cell models with small molecules and the subsequent preparation of
cellular proteins for analysis using mass spectrometry-based chemoproteomics. Example
processes involved include, but are not limited to:
1. Large-scale tissue culture & sterile technique for standard screening workflow
2. Integra liquid automation & handling
3. Buffer & Media preparation
4. Mass spectrometry sample preparation
5. Mass spectrometry sample analysis

Objective: Screen a collection of drug-like small molecules using mass spectrometry-
based chemoproteomics techniques. Analyze the resulting data against proteins of

interest and learn to correlate the structure of the small molecules with their ability to
bind to these proteins.

DESIRED MAJORS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS
Major in biology, chemistry, engineering, or physics, having completed at least two years of
course work within this major. Completion of at least one biology course and one chemistry
lab-based course, with additional course work within major. Interest and excitement at the
opportunity to gain experience in biotechnology and drug discovery.

YOUR INTERVIEW PROCESS
Intern will be expected to interview on site. They will be expected to explain their laboratory
experience and reason for seeking an internship in biotechnology. Any relevant working
experience demonstrating manual dexterity, attention to detail, and being a team player are
preferred.
PAY RATE
$21/hr

This will be a hands-on laboratory job requiring the intern to be on site.

CANDIDATE PREFERENCES
Independent work in a research laboratory will be considered a plus but is not required.
