About Our Workforce Programs:

Eckerd Connects’ Family Support Services is partnered with the Brevard County School District and local agencies to provide assistance to children and families that are homeless and/or unemployed. Services include case management, counseling, and parent training services. Family coaches actively assist families in accessing community resources to secure housing, work skills training programs, employment opportunities, transportation, medical services, and other needs. These intensive services are aimed at reducing the length of time families remain homeless. Additionally, case managers working in the school system assist homeless students in maintaining academic performance and participation in extracurricular activities.

Eckerd Connects’ Prevention/Intervention Counseling services are provided to all students in Grade 3 – 6, through individual or group counseling which combines character education with evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention interventions. Evidenced-based Substance Abuse Prevention Curricula is taught in group settings, aimed at building, and strengthening students’ social skills, impulse control, decision making, and self-esteem, and delivered through weekly sessions which include role playing, modeling, thematic art projects, conflict resolution games and recreational activities. Students in need of more intensive interventions receive additional individualized counseling. Additionally, the program involves students in community service projects that relate to their specific intervention plans and goals.
