We are currently accepting a Social Work Trainee Intern (SW-T) at Webster Street Academy in Dayton, Ohio. This internship is available for either summer or fall of 2025. Webster Street Academy, we understand that there are lots of reasons that students struggle at school. And while some of the issues may be educational in nature, they almost always include a behavioral component as well. It’s why we provide a robust therapeutic component for each and every one of our students. At Webster Street Academy, we don’t wait until a student fails yet again to step in. We take the time to figure out why your student is struggling, and then implement intervention that can begin assisting them day one. We provide the support, programming and attention each of our students needs to point them on the pathway to success. This Social Work Trainee Intern will be supported by a team including a Clinical Director, a case manager, a nurse, and the school staff.
The Social Work Trainee Intern will gain experience in:
- Providing therapy to children in group and individual sessions.
- Developing individual Treatment Plans in collaboration with clients, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary team and providing treatment plan updates in accordance with agency and licensing/accrediting body standards.
- Assuring quality care by collaborating with the legal guardian in facilitating referrals to community resources to ensure appropriate linkage to community services upon discharge.
Requirements:
- Seeking candidates to complete a school partnered internship in Social Work
- License/Certification: Ohio Social Work Trainee (SW-T)
- Prior experience working with kids/children is desired.
- Coursework on trauma informed treatment is desired.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of principles of brief, solution-focused therapy, interventions with youth with behavior disorders, and of principles of typical and atypical adolescent development.
- This position requires candidates to pass Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training
