Organizational Overview

The Center for Youth and Family Advocacy (CYFA) is a youth development nonprofit focused on leadership and civic engagement by advancing opportunities, accelerating growth, and amplifying contribution. CYFA provides youth and families with a community-based continuum of support from kindergarten through career, helping young people develop the knowledge, relationships, skills, and opportunities needed to navigate systems, make informed decisions, and contribute as leaders in their communities.

Through education, restorative practices, advocacy, and direct services, CYFA works to expand opportunity, reduce barriers, and strengthen the relationships and connections that support positive youth development.

Position Summary

The Reentry Coordinator provides individualized, community-based support to youth and young adults transitioning from detention back into the community through CYFA’s The Next Chapter program.

The Reentry Coordinator works alongside participants to put their reentry plans into action, helping them navigate the transition to community life and pursue meaningful education, employment, training, and career opportunities. The position combines relationship-based support, coaching, service navigation, advocacy, and community partnership development.

The Reentry Coordinator works independently and exercises professional judgment in responding to participant needs, identifying appropriate resources and opportunities, and adapting support as circumstances change. The position maintains strong relationships with participants while collaborating with families, school systems, justice-system partners, employers, workforce providers, and community organizations to create meaningful pathways forward.

Exercise independent professional judgment in identifying participant needs, responding to emerging challenges, and determining appropriate supports and next steps.

Provide coaching, problem-solving, advocacy, and encouragement as participants navigate reentry and work toward their goals.

Maintain regular contact with participants and monitor progress toward education, employment, career, and other reentry goals.

Collaborate with participants to adapt plans and strategies as their circumstances and goals evolve.

Education, Workforce & Career Development

Help participants identify and pursue employment, internships, apprenticeships, certifications, occupational training, postsecondary education, and other career opportunities.

Provide practical coaching related to job search, applications, interviewing, workplace readiness, and professional development.

Build and maintain relationships with employers, workforce providers, educational institutions, training programs, and other partners that expand opportunities for participants.

Support participants in addressing practical barriers that may interfere with education, training, or employment.

Community & Systems Coordination

Connect participants to appropriate community resources and services, including housing, transportation, identification, behavioral health, education, and other supports.

Develop and maintain relationships with schools, justice-system partners, service providers, employers, and community organizations.

Coordinate services and communication among partners to promote continuity and reduce gaps in support.

Engage families and other supportive adults, when appropriate, to strengthen participant stability and success.

Documentation & Program Support

Maintain timely and accurate participant records, case notes, service documentation, and outcome data.

Track participant engagement and progress and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, community engagement, and program activities.
