Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • After offer is accepted, satisfactory background check as required by state law and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
  • Experience in classical liberal arts education and school leadership
  • Ability to mediate difficult situations
  • Thorough understanding of classical pedagogy and philosophy
  • Exceptional organizational skills and experienced management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Commitment to Ascent Classical Academies’ dual mission and vision, to operate excellent classical schools that educate children in virtue and liberty, and to strive to make classical education as accessible as possible

Position Specifics

The assistant headmaster will assist the headmaster in overseeing and executing the academic and cultural mission of the school. As such, assigned tasks and projects will vary depending on campus needs and individual strengths and experience. As a member of the campus leadership team, the successful candidate will have experience in school leadership and operations, working with the headmaster.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages campus operations including but not limited to traffic flow logistics and event management
  • Manage non-instructional staff, substitute teachers, external vendors, and contractors Ensure students and teachers enjoy a safe and clean building every day
  • Foster a strong customer-service-focused team
  • Protect confidentiality and maintain student records and information in a manner consistent with all applicable administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the oversight of all authorizer-required data submissions utilizing the SIS

Ascent Classical Academies seeks faculty members with strong content backgrounds and does not require a teaching license.
